New FitBit HR

Hi,

Just got the HR as a (2019) Christmas present. Before I started wearing it, it said I burned 200 plus calories. Also, in the app, it shows calories burned from 2018 ranging from 1680-1660. What’s going on here?

Fitbit includes BMR (basal metabolic rate) calories that you are always burning just by being alive.  They are credited even when you are not wearing the tracker, and will show up in history as far back as you look.

That would explain the 200+ calories before you started wearing it, and the calories burned in 2018, though I would have expected the daily calorie burn in 2018 to always be the same.

See How does my Fitbit device calculate calories burned?

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
