Notification service not running

The following message appears all the time even though I have followed all the suggestions that I have found. It is a huge bug that has not been resolved.

"Notification service not running. A phone restart is required to re-enable notifications of your tracker".

Welcome aboard @Staceysmit. I apologize for the delayed response and will be happy to assist with the notification message that appears on your Fitbit Inspire. Thank you for letting us know that you have already followed all the suggestions that you have found.

In order to assist you, could you please let me know which is your phone's model? Also could you please confirm that you have followed the instructions of help article: My Fitbit device isn't receiving notifications from my phone.

To make sure your Fitbit device syncs and receives notifications from your Android phone, open the Settings app on your phone and confirm or adjust the following settings:

  • Turn off background restrictions or limitations:
    1. Go to Apps & Notifications > Fitbit app
    2. Tap Background restrictions or Background limits to turn off the setting.
  • Turn off battery limitations:
    1. Go to Apps > Fitbit app > Advanced > Battery > Battery optimization.
    2. Change the view to All apps.
    3. Search for the Fitbit app and choose Not optimized.
  • Turn on location services and allow the Fitbit app to access your location. For more information, see Why is the Fitbit app prompting me to turn on location services?

I'll be waiting for your response.

I am facing a similar issue on my Fitbit Inspire HR. I have tried all the suggestions on the forum, to no avail. My phone model is OnePlus 6, and I have checked the supported devices to confirm that the device is supported.

I have a new phone and keep getting the same issue over and over again. "Notification service is not running. A phone restart is required to re-enable notifications on your tracker".  Tried that multiple times and it didn't work. I unistalled and reinstalled the app and it worked for maybe one day. Tried every suggestion but either they don't apply or don't help.

I now have a Huawei P30 Pro.

Help! and thank you.

Is your Fitbit app by chance on external storage? SD card? The notification service doesn't work (or work well) if the app is on the SD card, so check to make sure the app is in your phone's internal storage.
