I have been typing for less than 1h and the step count went up of about 70 steps. This definitely a probelm for me. Any possibility to resolve the problem?

Are 70 steps  really significant compared to full day's steps for you?  If so, you could take off tracker while typing.

Remember it is worn on your wrist, not on your leg.

70 steps in one hour is a lot because I spend a lot of time tying every day (I am a university student and work mostly on my laptop).

I would like to know if it would be possible ti simply calibrate it somehow

Only thing you can do is say it is on dominant wrist.

Calories are based on heart rate, not steps.
