yes, with arm movement (wrist tracker) multiple sensors allow counting of step when they sense both hip and arm forward movement. Without a combination of the two movements, step count is dampened to allow for things like driving where you are moving forward but not stepping, or elevators where you are rising but not stepping. You may be shorted a few steps here and there but your inspire will record activity if you are stepping an not holding on to a rail, cart handle, etc.
Great question, keep moving!

So does this mean my Inspire will not count steps while I’m grocery shopping?? My Fitbit One did!
Best AnswerIt will count steps grocery shopping or on the treadmill if your arm is moving in the back and forth movement. But not if it’s still holding on to the cart or treadmill bar.
@Bethgh The Inspire (NOT Inspire HR) has a setting for wrist or clip. It is my understanding, and I admit that I do not own one, that your Inspire will count those steps if it is on the proper setting and not on your wrist.
To change the setting, press and hold the button. Here you will see your battery level, the option to turn on/off the Screen Wake, turn on/off Notifications, and set the on wrist/on clip setting.

@Bethgh Buy the clip for the Inspire and it will work just like the one and count steps when pushing a grocery cart or on treadmill
