I would call this a failure on the part of Fitbit. I changed my initial review from 4.5 to 1 after using the supposed waterproof in my swimming pool. At first the issue started out small and now I have a $200 + watchband that does not tell time. If you search the community for "Left Button" you will see what I mean.
there is a streak on the right side of the watch face(All the time).
left button doesn't work at all.
and just today the screen comes up displaying the audio controls and is stuck on that screen. (No clock face and no tracking).
and it doesn't appear to sync to my phone any more.
I'm not even sure if any of the buttons work anymore.
I've done the factory reset on the and have let the battery discharge and sit for a week before recharging. and none of that seemed to work.
Fitbit's solution was to buy another Fitbit watch.

Hi @OCTedl , first of all the Versa is not waterproof, but water resistant, which is something else. Did you dry your Versa very good after the swimming? Not only the watch, but also the band? Can you explain to me why you waited a week long before recharging your battery? Who recommended that? kuzibri

Water damage does that to Versas. My Versa Lite started with just the HR sensor going haywire, but now the touchscreen doesn't work, the device reboots randomly and the screen is showing weird artifacts. If you rub the back (where the sensors are) with alcohol or a bit of ice you will probably see condensation under the sensors.
On the positive side, I got in touch with support and they did the right thing and sent me a replacement. Of course that new Versa is not going anywhere near water, not even washing the dishes with it.

To answer the question as why I waited a week to recharge:
I tried everything else that was suggested resetting the watch, blowing out with air, put in in rice and none of that fixed the issue. I was going on vacation and decide to let the watch sit, uncharged, while I was gone. I figured nothing else worked so I might as was try something different.
