My versa recognizes that I was active but cannot assign any type of activity eg walking, cycling etc. 

i have already restarted everything multiple times, read the fora... change settings and still nothing....

i am seriously considering returning the watch;(

By not being able to assign an activity.

There are up to 4 ways, deepening on the activity.

There are 7 activities that are auto detectable and require the user to do nothing but wear the tracker.

There are another 20 activities of which 6-7(not sure) may be added to the Versa. Then chosen by the user before starting the activity, Some can use the phones GPS.

The user may use the workout mode during the activity then rename it after a sync.

The user may simply add the exercise at a later date.

I'm not sure what type of activity or which mode you want to use to document the activity.
