Are Google phones compatible?-Versa

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I currently use Google for our phone provider and looking at the compatable list of phones for Google and none of their phones listed are no longer available for purchase. They have new phones and they will not work with Fitbit. Does anybody know if they will be updating the Fitbit to work with newer phones? What good is the Fitbit if they are not current with the newer phones? Maybe Apple is the answer. Might be more initially but then again if I get Fitbit it doesn't work at all.

I also chatted with a rep and ask if there are any plans to work with other phones but not could tell me. Just could provide what is listed online.

my phone (huawei p10) is neither on the supported list and it works just fine with a charge 2. i'm not sure it'll allow you to set it up for the first time so i ordered a dongle for myself for my versa to set it up on a pc, but generally as long as your phone supports bluetooth low energy, and seeing that google pixels are fairly new phones, it might work nonetheless! after you set it up with your account via the pc and log in through your phone, it should sync just fine.

We have a laptop and a old desktop. The desktop worked well with Charge 2 with the dougle but the Laptop which is newer that has Windows 10 never worked for my husband's Change 2 and that is when he got his Google phone so he could use his Fitbit. We tried using the dougle and Bluetooth on his laptop with support from Fitbit and never got it to work.
Fitbit needs to keep up with the newer phones. I can't afford a new phone anytime a new Fitbit comes out.

That's odd, my boyfriend's Charge 2 works just fine with his W10 laptop via the dongle. However, if it works with your desktop, set it up there (just so that the device is connected to your Fitbit account) and then log in to your Fitbit account on your phone with Bluetooth on. The device synced up for me after a few minutes (because of a lot of data being pulled). What exact model of phone do you have?

You can only setup one Fitbit  per computer. We both have the same phone that will no longer be updated come fall. Laptops are like phones. Not all are compatible.
When I get my new phone I will need to decide if I try Google phone and see if it works with the Fitbit I have or just change over to Apple and start over

I use a ZTE Axon 7 with my Versa. Used it with my Blaze. Is not listed as a supported device but works with no issues.

The Windows 10 application supports multiple devices at once and even if it didn't, there's always the possibility of switching accounts to set up a new device. It's only about the initial setup to add the device to the account, but it might work even without the dongle via your phone.

We will try again. I know when my husband and I got our first Fitbit HR we could only use one device for each computer. At the time I didn't have Bluetooth and needed the dongle and had Windows 7. Work with my desktop with no problem.
My husband had gotten a new Laptop which came with the Windows 10 installed and it had Bluetooth. We could not get his Charge HR to sync with neither the Bluetooth or the dongle. We were on the phone forever with Fitbit support and never got it to work.He ended up getting a smartphone.Maybe with the newer Fitbit it might be different so we will try again. Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Will let you know if it works.

Windows 10 computers are, generally speaking, all the same. If have access to BTLE or if you have a dongle, it should just work. Because Windows 10 is essentially the same system no matter the manufacturer of the computer, it will always be "compatible."

Android phones are a different matter. The system is really open source, so the manufactures are able to twist it to the benefit of the phones they're making, therefore, even if two devices have the same version of Android, there might be substantial differences if they're from two different brands.

Now, what's happening is that Windows 10 has Bluetooth Issues with Fitbits in general. So it may work for a while, but then all of the sudden an update to the Fitbit App or for the Fitbit or for Windows may screw things up.

Nevertheless, here are some things that we should always take into consideration.

  • Ionic and Versa run Fitbit OS. Both devices were not designed to work with Dongles so even though they may sync with the Windows 10 app if you have a Dongle (or even with Windows 7's Fitbit Connect), it may not work sometimes pretty much for no reason.
  • You can have multiple Fitbits (for different people) on the same device, whether it is a phone or a computer. This is specially true for Fitbit Connect, since it really doesn't ask you to have your account constantly running there. The dongle will just pick up the signal of any Fitbits that it has nearby and sync all their info to their respective accounts.
  • Not having a phone on the list of supported devices doesn't mean it's not compatible. All phones should work if they meet the minimum requirements to run the Fitbit App (which is only determined by the OS version) unless Fitbit specifically says otherwise here. Being on the list of supported devices only means that Fitbit has thoroughly tested "every feature" and found that everything works.

I have used my Pixel and Pixel 2 XL with my blaze with no issues for the last few years.  I expect the same will be true with my Versa but I won't know until it arrives at end of week.  I'd be surprised if you had any issues though.

Is your phones through Google? Post when you get your Fitbit and get it setup. If it works then I can go ahead and get new phones. I didn't have problems with our Nexus 5x through Google or our PC. We just couldn't get it set up with our laptop. Also the Google phone listed on Fitbit compatible list are no longer being sold. Any new phones from Google are not on the list. If you can post again when you get your Fitbit would help us out. Thanks!

Thanks for the info. My daughter-in-law just purchased from Google Fi their Moto 4X that's not listed on Fitbitd compatable list and it did sync with the Versa.

She shared with me that you use WIFI to transfer music from the computer to the Versa so the Bluetooth problem we have with our laptop will not be a problem as we will use the phone to sync and the laptop to transfer music over there WiFi.  I guess we can order our new phones.

Hello everyone, I hope you're doing well, it's nice to see many faces around! Smiley Happy

Please note that many Android phones have all the hardware requirements to be a supported device but are currently not on our list of supported devicesThis means that we have not tested it for compatibility and added it to the list yet. For the time being, we don't have an specific date or time-frame of when is going they will be listed as compatible.

While these devices has all the specifications to be compatible and are currently working with the Fitbit app, it's possible to come across some issues along the way. I appreciate your understanding while we work to improve this experience, if there's anything else I can do for you, please feel free to reply.

By the time Fitbit updates their compatable list it will be old. Phones are changing constantly. If this is the case maybe Apple has it right. Their phones will work with their smart watches. I guess maybe I won't continue the Google Fi phone and reconsider any future purchase if a Fitbit. This technology is getting too costly.
