Automatic Recognizing swimming not working?

I have read in the fitbit documentation that all trackers (I have a Versa) can recognize an exercise and start tracking it.

Today I swam 130 lengths in a 25 meter pool, I ended exercised and decided I would test the Versa o see if it would track a swim that I did not use an exercise app.  So without starting the swim app I swam an additional 10 lengths 250 meters, but I could not find where the Versa tracked the additional 250 meters stats.  Did I do something wrong?  I thought I when I started swimming the Versa would track it as swimming and create stats for the swim.  Where are the stats?  They are not in the fitbit app or on the Fitbit.com.

If you use auto recognition to track a swim you wont gets stats on your watch, but the exercise should be synced through to your app. Go to the exercise tile (running man) and see if the swim is listed in your exercise list. If it is not then go to your account on the app and check that swim is turned on. In your account scroll down to goals and select Exercise and make sure swim is enabled. You also need to set the pool length under advanced settings in your account, but I assume you have done this as the exercise app seemed to work correctly.

Let us know if that sorts it out.

Nelly, I always use the swim app when swimming and I know how to use it.  I did set the length of the pool etc.  I believe I had all that right.  However, my question is not how to use the swim app, because I have been using it since I purchased the watch.

However, my impression from the documentation the watch is smart enough to know if I am running or swimming for example, at least that is how I interrupted it.

You said that auto recognition does not track your results, then what does auto recognize mean?

I too am having problems with my Versa auto recognizing my swim.   It does not.   I have it set to auto recognize swimming after +10 minutes.   I swim with a consistent freestyle stroke for 30 minutes and the versa does not recognize it.    I have already entered the length of the pool.  I have reset my versa several times and toggled auto recognize on and off several times.   In addition I have used the fitbit flex 2 for over a year and it worked fine so I know how to use the technology.   What is wrong with my Versa?  Frustrated!

I have the same issue with the Charge 5, I swam for 70 minutes today leaving the watch to auto recognise the activity.  The watch recorded the time, set itself to ‘swim mode’ then logged nothing on the apps exercise area, despite congratulating me on my ‘active minutes in the zone’ I think the app has a bit of a blind spot.

The only reason I did not manually start the swimming session on the to the watch is because the screen responsiveness is miserable, I struggle to get through the menu before the light goes out and I have to start again.
