I ordered the new fancy Versa with the cool gray band. Very excited. However, the band would not stay connected to the device. Yes, I read the instructions and yes, it seemed fine. However, it started disconnecting from the device and coming off my wrist. The first time, I caught it. The second time, it came off while on a 1300-mile road trip. I was convinced that it had come off in a convenience store bathroom and I had not noticed it falling off. I did see it was still syncing and at the next stop, found it on the back floorboard of my car. The third time it fell off, I have no idea where I was. IF I locate it, I am changing back to the original band that came with the device to see if I can get better results, but for almost $250, I expect more.
I am sure it is more economically attractive to NOT add an easy function to find a misplaced fitbit (yes, tried the apps out there - did not work), but as a repeat customer, I find it really disappointing that fitbit can track my period, but not my device.
Unfortunately there would be no way for Fitbit to communicate with your Versa if you lost it, the device wouldn't have a data connection if it wasn't in the vicinity of your phone. Also the Versa doesn't have built-in GPS, so even if fitbit could communicate with it, the device wouldn't have any location data to send. This makes an app to find a lost fitbit next to useless.
Maybe in the future if fitbit ever release a device with cellular connectivity something like this could be developed.
