Burns from an old fitbit?

I've had my Versa 2 since 2019 and I've used the same band the whole time. I only take it off to charge it and clean the device, or if I'm getting into a hot tub/springs. I even shower and swim with it on. And when I shower and wash my hands I make sure that my wrist gets properly washed and rinsed because I've dealt with soap residue burns before and this is different. Never had an issue before today.

Could this be a sign of damage or that its old and needs to be replaced? I saw others had made similar posts about getting burned from their device. Fitbit should have figured out a way to not harm it's customer base with its products by now. Ffs.

You're probably pretty lucky. My Versa 2 isn't anywhere near that old. Never showered or swam with it. And the face fell off. Maybe your seals are finally weakening and water seeped in causing it to run hot?

Hi @shamenw - Fitbit don't recommend using soap or showering with the watch and it's like what @MarkMM says.

Can you check when you charge it it doesn't get hot and if so stop immediately and don't wear it.

Water damaged watches can burn you through excessive demands on the battery, and it may not last a day on a charge.
