Can I use the Versa standalone (never connected to a device) from setup to viewing of data?

Hi

With me learning that a lot of Android phones may not be compatible with the Versa, and me still being interested in its fitness features, but me wanting to assume the worse (devices being incompatible) before making a purchase, I would like to know....

Can I still make use of the Versa if I don't ever connect it to my phone/tablet/device?

Yes, I am assuming I will have no notification functionality since it's not connected to a device.

Thank you

Fitbit products are not designed to be used as standalone.

They're always supposed to be sending and receiving information to and from your phone.

Nevertheless, if you really want it to work as independently as possible you still need to keep these things in mind.

  • You need a mobile device or Windows 10 computer (with BTLE) to install everything that it needs to work after you get it out of the box.
  • Sometimes the watch's timezone will go off a little bit (maybe a couple minutes for no reason or maybe a bunch of hours because the battery was completely drained) and the only way to get it back to the right one would be syncing.

You don't need a phone to set it up - all you need to do is to set it up on your PC if you can't do it in your phone, log into the mobile Fitbit app with Bluetooth on and since the device will be written on your account  you automatically should be able to connect and sync. Please note that all you need is Low Power Bluetooth (I believe that's a feature of Bluetooth 4.2) - if your phone has that, it may be compatible just fine. I own a Huawei P10 and it syncs with a Charge 2 without problem despite Huawei even being sort of banished by Fitbit because of the Lite models not getting the newest Bluetooth technology.

You're completely right! I already edited my previous message.

@knowsnofitness  Here is the link to Fitbit Supported Devices.  You can check on your phone in advance.  You just might be in luck!  And, yes, it must be connected to something, or you won't get past the set up.

Also, if you buy directly from Fitbit, there is a 45 day return window.

The last two phones I have used with Fitbits were not listed as compatible and have had no issues at all. I use my Versa with the ZTE Axon 7 which is not on the list of compatible devices. It works and syncs just fine.

Its probably better to go for a cheaper device like the Alta or something if you wont be using any of the features of the versa?
