Clock Faces can cause a lot of Problems which are not Versa related.

Hi all, I just want to warn you all very firmly that certain, non-Fitbit developed, third party app Clock Faces can lead to a diversity of problems which are not related to the Versa itself. A few examples are:

1. Extreme battery usage: the larger the size of the Face and the brighter the light of it, the more battery energy is used

2. After DL a certain face, the Versa's display can stay black on not showing your choosen face. Solution: Reboot Versa and DL another one

3. After DL a certain face, the stats are not completely shown as promised, e.g. it shows your calories, minutes and shows notifications, but does not register your steps or HR. This is not a Versa problem, but the Clock Faces problem.

4. Third party Clock faces show a developer whom you can contact whenever your face does not work, see post 2 and 3 for further information about that.

All in all, the Versa is not always to blame for not functioning as you expect it should. Hope this is helpfull.

BTW, maybe it's a good idea to bundle these kind of problems within this thread/topic, instead of posting seperate topics.

Hi, this is really difficult to say cause there are many third party, non-Fitbit developed, Clock faces, but I know of two faces that always causes problems:

1. the Military Clock face. It has two displays, the first one is pretty and simple, the second one you'll get by swiping form left to the right. There should be mentioned the calories used, but is does not at all, whatever you try.

2. GP Today. I noticed, after a complaint of a member, that it did not display/register steps and HR. I adviced him/her to install another Clock Face and the problem was solved. Shows clearly how great this problem can be.

This is the reason I started this topic cause the Versa is not always to blame for these problems and hoping that people with these problems post them here so we know which Clock Faces are not functioning what they promise and try to solve these problems. Thanks for your response.

Just an additional note — When you look thru clock faces in the Fitbit app, if it was NOT developed by Fitbit, you will see a link to the developer. You may contact them directly if you experience a problem.

Hi, thanks. May I add the non-Fitbit part within my OP? I will refer to your post regarding contacting the developer, but my personal experience with that is not very positive. Most of them never bother to answer.

I would like to get the name of the watch face that is casuing problems to be shared so as to avoid it. I have been using Stats watch face with no problem at all. However a list of problematic watch face will be useful to all.

Thanks very much, only it's disappointing for me that it's not marked and accepted as a solution. Just bad luck.

Ijust install the Classic watch face by Julian... Thanks for your suggestion and sincerely wish this will solved my random sync problem with my 3 devices and 2 Fitbits (Versa and Flex 2).

Wasted lots of time to find what is exactly the problem and up to now it is very random. I cannot exercize carrying a tablet, a laptop and phone. Hope after this my phone will be able to sync consistently.

Thank you for your suggestions and help

You're very welcome, I see it as my job to help members in this community with the experience I build up in 10 years supporting Smartphones on a very large Smartphone forum and now Smartwatches. They are not that different basically.

Just an update. I replaced my Stats face with Classic and then Thexa, but below 50KB in size.

As I mentioned before, when I used Classic at that time I can sync. Then after posting my previous post, my sync failed, failed and failed

Then I replace with even a smaller and uglier face, not designed by Fitbit, Thexa. This face is not free, it is $4 but the size is very small, around 40KB. After installing this, sometime I can sync, but most of the time the sync failed

Regretfully I have to say that using smaller size watch face is not the solution to syncing problem.

Hi, sorry to read that you have problems with the Classic Clock face, I do not recognize this cause I have had never problems with it regarding syncing. IMO, it must be caused by something else. Try to reboot your Versa by pressing and holding the left and right lower buttons untill you see the Fitbit logo. Once you see that, release the buttons and see if your problem is solved with the Thexa, If yes you can reinstall the Classic one again. Whenever you think, I do not want it anymore due to your reported issues, I would advice to use the "Minimal Analog" clock face. You can find it by going to Clock Faces - All clocks - type in the searching bar "Minimal analog" and it will show up on top of the list at the left side. This face is also very small. Hope this helps.

BTW, did you by any chance DL'ed the newest update. In that case the "old" clock faces might not be compatible with the new update.

Good that you raise this @SunsetRunner  The clockface is the first interface to the Versa and many ppl get probably frustrated by something they think is an issue with the Versa (firmware) but in reality it is the clockface playing up. Agree completely.

I also think that there is an issue with versioning, i.e. (some) old clockfaces that do not work properly with the new OS and v.v.

Yes. Took me 4 hours to complete the process with 2 syncing problem in between. Many of the new click faces look great, better than the previous collection.

In fact after updating my sync is not getting better. Now I switched off my Versa due to sync problem with my phone and tablet

I am using Flex 2 which as usual is much more dependable in syncing
