The other day I had this odd looking clock popped up on my Fitbit. It has a 12, 3, 6 & 9 where a normal clockface would have them. I later realized it appears to be tracking steps per hour. It comes on with wrist movement.
I HATE IT. I did NOT choose this and did NOT set it, unless it was accidentally done somehow. I don't know how this happened and I want it to go away. What do I do?

I don't know how your clock face got changed, but here's how to select a different one:
How do I change the clock face on my Fitbit device?
I have no idea which model fitbit you have, but on some, several clock faces can be stored right on the watch; maybe your old one is still there.

Hi Johnny Row. Thank you for your reply. I completely forgot to say that I have a Versa2. It's not the actual clockface that changed. When I gesture my wrist (as if checking the time) the "steps clock", appears first for a second or two....then my regular, normal clockface appears. It's weird. I don't know what else to call it. I wish I could post a photo.

That sounds like an "always-on" clock face display. Like it is always on, but with limited detail to cut down on battery usage; but then when you turn your wrist, the "screen wake" overrides the limited view.
From clock face, scroll right to Settings; scroll down to "Always-on Display' and tap to toggle it off.
