@gibbyhome   I just noticed something in the Fitbit Store.   The ionic has been removed.  Since the Versa 3 has built in GPS, some might call the Versa 3 the Ionic 2 that they wanted.  With extras.

However, there is still no option to have offline Spotify. This is a big deal breaker for me. I love my Ionic but am struggling with this. Once my watch calls it a day I will be having to move to a company that does have this function.

I have 2 questions.  Will the built in GPS might be more accurate then the one that you have with the blue tooth on your phone?  And, does the Versa 3 can use the Versa 2 charger?

The chargers are different, more like a Apple Watch one. Theres a video on youtube with it. It is quite a powerful magnet

Hi @AveryW. built in GPS is far more accurate than using the connected GPS on a phone.

So if no offline Spotify, I also assume there also is no option to download music files and playlists like there is with the Ionic?

Best Answer

I would like to ask the question, do any another watches other there allow Spotify to download to the watch like the Iwatch ? or maybe a google watch. ?

wondering if this is a Spotify issue and not a Fitbit issue

Hi @gibbyhome any Garmin which has music capability (Venu, Vivoactive 4, Forerunner 245M/645M/945, Fenix 6s Pro/6 Pro/ 6X Pro) etc.  can also download Spotify playlists.  Not sure if this is a limitation of Spotify's app or hardware limitation on the part of Fitbit.

If Pandora and deeser can do it. I’m sure it’s a software limit

Time for Spotify to get their carp going and update the app

The decision to have Sporify control the app CNN on the phone is based on an agreement with Spotify. Before a user will be able to upload spotify music to the tracker, Spotify will need to change their policy and let Fitbit upload spotify music.

where is this policy ?

Totally agree. I have just received my new Versa 3 and am so disappointed. I did not expect to be downgrading.

As far as I can see, having spent a while setting up my new Versa 3, the answer to your question is "no". Embarrassing, isn't it?

I loved my Ionic, but to me the Versa 3 does not live up to the Ionic.  The things I do not like the push bottom, and the Stair counter does not count all your stairs count. Today it shows 8 to my 18 claims. I stayed with Fitbit because I loved the application. I am learning to use the Versa now, but this is the last Tracker for me.

I had the Ionic for years.  I have just received my new Versa 3 and am so disappointed.

It sounds as though we have the same problem. I imagine that, with the recall of Ionic watches, there will be a lot of people switching to Versa 3 about now. Hopefully, if enough comments are made, Fitbit will realise their error in charging so much for a poorer product. I wonder whether a firmware update could add the functionality? If Fitbit want future customers they need to think of this.

Wait... so they make us turn in a defective device and offer up a downgraded option?? SHAME ON YOU FITBIT!!!

Same here. Loved the Ionic. Changed to V3 due to recall. Fitbit gave a great deal, but the Versa3 has been tons of trouble…random wake alarms, screen spazzing out, time jumping 2 hours in the middle of the night so I wake up 2 hours early, vibrating randomly during exercise (HR notifications are off), gps constantly asking to turn on during runs when I don’t want to use it.
Help Chat’s answer to everything is to reboot the watch.  Then a day later something else goes wrong.
Oh yah, since I’m whining, I’ll also say that I liked my clock face way better on Ionic, a choice not available on the Versa.

The longer I own this Versa 3 the worse it becomes. It randomly turns itself onto exercise so that I can then see a map of my walking around my flat whilst running down the battery. It gives supposedly interesting information which can be seen to be wrong e.g. one time it reported almost 11 hours of sleep, which simply couldn't be possible between my going to bed and the alarm clock making me get up, then recently I had a good night's sleep but it reported just over 3 hours, going to sleep at 3pm. Not even close. Sometimes when I drive home from work it congratulates me on my exercise, presumably thinking I cycled. It measures SPO2 (or whatever it is called) but so does a dedicated device that I own - they produce figures that are too far apart. This watch reports all sorts of interesting figures but the few that I can verify are often wrong, so there is little point in looking at others.

It tells the time. Hurrah!
