Connection problem workaround for Android

* This forces the Fitbit to reconnect automatically whenever it disconnects. It doesn't fix the underlying problem with Fitbit dropping connections, which would likely require another software update from Fitbit. But it should let you use your device until then... works for me. *

1. Download the app called Bluetooth Auto Connect. Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.myklos.btautoconnect&hl=en_US. Set up your Versa under devices. Check all 5 "Events" boxes.

2. Make sure your Fitbit app, and the Bluetooth Auto Connect app, have their battery optimization turned OFF (as well as any other app or service on your phone with "Bluetooth" in the name). To get to this setting, long press on the Fitbit icon, click the i circle icon, click Battery, Optimize battery usage, then change the drop down list from "Apps not optimized" to "All". (Anything "battery optimized" can be killed by Android if it hasn't heard from it in a while.) Note: these instructions are for Pie, but prior versions of Android from 6 onward have this setting. You may need to get to it differently.

3. Wouldn't hurt to reboot both phone and Versa. I didn't need to, though.

Hope this helps some folks. Expect your phone's battery to go down a bit faster with this disconnecting and reconnecting going on (though not by leaps and bounds). Hopefully Fitbit will fix this soon.

Good luck! ~Chewy

Hi, great job, but there is a simpler method to reastablish the connection without installing another software between the Fitbit app and the Versa. There are two ways:

1. Quit the Fitbit app - restart your Phone - start the Fitbit app again and syn, or

2. Manually sync several times in a row by clicking on the watch icon on your dashboard an press sync, even when it says that it "just synced". Three times in a row should do the trick.

That's great for a one-time fix, but the problem some folks are having is that it continues to drop. This is a workaround for the connection dropping over and over. Rebooting your phone and Versa all day long is not feasible.

OK giving this a shot. My fitbit used to be so useful but after updates or whatever it has been just sad. Wrong times and not syncing. ☹️
