Distance and Pacing Inaccurate

My Fitbit pacing is consistently inaccurate and says I am taking about 20% more time on a run, both inside and outside and on regular runs and treadmill runs. I did not used to mind this because I was interval training and looked at heart rate, but now I am training for a race it renders the watch useless because to track distance I have to use another app.

Support told me I should calculate my stride and change it in the fitbit app, but this is concerning to me. First of all, I find it alarming this hasn’t been wrong for months and that I need to be doing anything, since it should be syncing with GPS on runs. Does that mean that my distances are going to still inaccurate (i.e I would use smaller strides on slower paced runs vs. longer strides in interval training)? How has support been for everyone else? I’m disappointed to see so many other posts about this and am worried it will never be accurate.

I've been running on my Y's indoor lap since I got my Versa for Christmas. Each lap is 1/10 of a mile, I run 35 laps. My Versa says I have run between 1.1 and 1.2 miles. Is there a way we can edit the data on the dashboard so that the Versa can then calibrate the distance accurately?

I agree that would seem easier than me trying to divide the feet by steps, etc. and then testing it against my run until it looks right to

me. My NikeRun app seems to be more effective than the Fitbit, which is disappointing.
