Distance is wrong with GPS tracking

I’ve been reading forums and I’m not the only one having issues logging distances. My jog buddy logged 9km and my Versa only logged  5.59! GPS keeps coming up as connecting... can anyone help with this? I’ve had the Versa 2 weeks and love it but this is so disappointing. It’s the main reason I bought it

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Rungogo. I am sorry for the delayed response.

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and sharing the details of the difficulty you're having with tracking your distance with your Fitbit Versa. I totally understand how you are feeling as you love your device and would like to continue enjoying its features. I would recommend checking out this article with information about the different factors that can affect connected GPS.

In addition, you can perform a restart to your Versa by following these instructions.

I am having this same issue.  I spent 30 minutes on phone with customer support.  They had no solution.  I have had my fitbit for 9 months and this just started happening yesterday

After reading more online it seems that the Versa does not have inbuilt GPS which is mind baffling to me as I assumed this to be the most basic feature of any sports trackers. It relies on the GPS from our phones. One of the reasons I bought the Fitbit was to stop going out with my bulky phone. I’m extremely disappointed. I’ve only had it 2 weeks and now see the Versa 2 will have GPS.
