Hello all in Fitbit world! Here’s my question: I’ve heard (read) that the Versa will have elliptical exercise tracking like the Blaze, but will elliptical tracking on the Versa be more accurate? Whenever I use elliptical tracking on my Blaze it only counts about 60% of the “distance” or steps I’ve exercised. I’ve read in various forums that this is due to the movement sensing algorithm in the Blaze. I’m hoping this “issue” is addressed with the Versa, as I do quite a bit of my workouts on the elliptical.
Thanks in advance to to anyone who can provide a legit answer!
***EDIT UPDATE***
(based on first few responses)
I understand how the Blaze works and that it may never be completely accurate. I don’t need an exaination of how the Blaze does or doesn’t work. I also know there are other
non-Fitbit fitness devices that either have better elliptical tracking or an app that can be put on the device to improve said tracking. What I’m asking is for insight on the Versa as stated in my initial post (knowing full well it may not be completely accurate either, hence the reason for saying “more accurate”). I kindly ask you to keep this in mind before responding. Thanks!

It will never be accurate no matter what model
If you are holding on to the bars it will not count accurately. Also you not covering an exact distance because you are not moving forward. This goes for the Elliptical as well
Also See this thread by @MrMarv
It explains it very well

I have found it will count between 80 and 90 percent of my steps. I use the charge 2

It will be more accurate than the Blaze since it is a newer model but it will not be completely accurate because it does not have the built-in GPS. It can only calculate it from the steps, stride length and stuff like that.

When it comes to distance the elypticalelmachine is simply reports a virtual distance .This is because the user never actually moves. Your tracker has no way of determining the math the machine does to come up with its fictitious distsnce, @WendyB iand @sarah_lin8 are correct in saying that the distance will never be correct.

Nice @Gadams99. I hope whatever is used for elliptical tracking on the Charge 2 is incorporated to the Versa!

My guess is that it would not be added unless they reprogrammed Smart Track to include the Elliptical as a workout.

What about heart rate tracking on the elliptical? I compared heart rates between the Versa and the Polar chest band and while sometimes they were in sync but other times they were way off. Also I switch from going forwards to going backwards on the elliptical and while the Polar kept the right heart rate going backwards caused tremendous drops on the Versa (from 138 to 100). Any thoughts?
