I see no option on the fitbit app to update the firmware on my versa lite. I have an LG G4 with android version 6 (highest it can go), so I'm wondering if maybe the fitbit app for my phone can't update anymore with android 6 and therefore I won't see firmware updates either. I have all day sync on with the app open in the background and I left the wifi, bluetooth, and location on for over an hour yesterday seeing if anything new happened. I checked the fitbit app on my phone and the phone app doesn't seem to have/need any updates either. I currently have firmware version 38.33.3.31
Any thoughts?
I'm also concerned that if I can get the firmware update to work, that many of the watch's capabilities won't/will no longer be compatible with my android 6 phone. For example, the option for "quick reply" to texts right from my watch has never been able to work because that requires android 7 or higher (which I really think fitbit should make these features available to older android versions, because not everyone is going to have the newest technology).
Thanks,

Hi @AmberMei,
1.) You will need to wait for the FW update to be rolled out to you. Fitbit often rolls them out in stages to see what's working and what's not before they do a massive rollout to all the users. When it gets rolled out to you, you will see a pink banner in your app telling you there is an update and it will give you the option to do so. You can update it via WiFi or Bluetooth, but I have more luck updating via Bluetooth.
2.) Usually the updates contain free new features that will not affect your older features. So if they were compatible before, they should be compatible now. I 100% agree that they need to make features available to older Android users. For the longest time I couldn't update my phone and missed out on a lot of features. However, I updated over the summer and all of a sudden I've been able to get all the new features that would have made my life much easier before if I had them.

Thanks for the information!
I didn't realize fitbit rolled out the updates in batches - that's good to know!
I'll keep checking for the banner.
Thanks so much!
