Fitbit Update: 9/16

Hi everyone,

We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.0.1, available for Versa and Versa Lite

(Firmware Version: 68.9.12).

We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.

*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.

WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED

This release includes bug fixes and improvements.

HOW DO I UPDATE?

Step by step instructions for updating your Versa can be found here

To update Versa Lite Edition, leave on all-day sync and let the Fitbit app run in the background on your phone. When the update is ready, you’ll see a notification in the Fitbit app.

If you run into any trouble updating your Versa or Versa Lite, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips

We appreciate your patience while we work to roll this out to everyone.

Does that also explain why Fitbit has been having issues with Android
devices as well?

What phone do you have? I upgraded to 13.2 this morning and still no change. I have the iPhone 11 pro max.

FWIW, I'll share what worked for me with my Moto Z3 and Fitbit Versa. I tried everything suggested in this thread - multiple times - with no luck. I finally did an online chat with Motorola and tried what she suggested even though it sounded like too simple a solution. I will give you a heads up that she didn't give me, which is that once you do this you'll have to give permissions to all apps that previously had permissions (i.e., giving the apps access to your camera, contacts, etc.). I was willing to go through the process of giving those permissions again because of the relief of having text notifications show up on the Versa again. I did this a few days ago and my text notifications are still working so I thought I'd share what worked for me since Fitbit doesn't seem to be responding to our posts.

- Go to Settings

- Apps and notifications

- Open "See All Apps"

- Open from the 3 dots in the upper right-hand corner

- Choose "Reset app preferences"

@Fit2walk . thanks for the advice. my only issue seems to be with phone calls. I get a missed call notification instead of being told when someone is actually ringing 🙄😤

I understand your frustration, @CharlotteBt . It was unfortunate that Apple released iOS 13 without notifying several third parties (like Fitbit) that link to it. However ... I upgraded to iOS 13.1.2 this morning and my notifications are coming thru as expected! Have you upgraded to 13.1.2 yet? If not, that should help.

I’d like to add one more thing to my post for those on iOS - after upgrading to iOS 1.2, I had to reset my Versa.

Unfortunately, resetting the watch normally makes the notifications work again, but you never know when they will stop working again until you realize that you aren't getting them.  I have to reset my watch daily just to get notifications working again, which defeats the whole purpose of having a reliable watch.  I'm not sure if the update rolled out to everyone or they pulled it, but the update never was available on my watch.  Can we get an update on this please?

On my Fitbit app, it reads Version 32.10.15 so I must be way behind?? I have synced today and every day.  I understand the newest version is rolling out slowly but did I miss a version somewhere??

I just cancelled my premium membership.  The app and versa won't stay paired, notifications don't work, I have to reset everything almost daily--and most of the time the reset doesn't work.  Unless this is resolved, premium is useless.  Until then, I won't resubscribe. I loved my versa and never had problems before this update, I sincerely hope it can be fixed soon.

I’m not sure if this will help anyone else, but I found a Sept. 30 Fitbit app update available (didn’t realize this was an option). I updated and I am now receive all notifications, including text messages, on my Versa again. I have a Samsung J7.

Just got updated to 32.68.9.15 a few minutes ago. Never got 32.68.9.12 but my update went fine and it seems to be syncing with my Galaxy S7 Edge fine for stats and notifcations.
