Fitbit Versa feedback.

I just received mine last week after a hellish experience with delivery, which I rarely have I do shop online mostly and of course my fitbit went MIA in the mail but it was found and I have until the end of the week to send it back if I am to send it back and I'm conflicted.

Between sync problems, the extra steps while charging which can't be reset (last night my versa logged 11k steps while it charged and when I put it on my wrist, it congratulated me for my steps. Gah.) and the fact that apparently Fitbit refuses to answer the simple question of whether the Versa is water proof or not (the official answer as far as I know has been "No, it is swim proof, put it in rice for 24-48 hours after contact with water." Yes, that's silly nonsense.) I'm honestly not sure what I want to do.

On the one hand I love my Firbit when it's working properly but when it doesn't, it irritates me to no end.

For 2 days of the past week I couldn't get it to sync after it had been working perfectly. That meant none of the apps were working like notifications, weather, etc. I may as well have bought the HR Charge if I wanted something that is not water proof or to give me notifications, etc. right?  Then after calling customer service and doing the same things I did before by myself, it magically started working again, so customer service is thankfully magical (props to them!). It feels like it's a crapshoot. When it works it's great when it doesn't it's a disaster.

What I want to know is, in your user opinion, can I expect this product's bugs to get worked out or is that never going to happen? If I keep my versa do you think I will need to become BFFs with customer service? I love new friends but I don't have an entire day a week to devote to talking to the nice folks at FitBit.

I keep thinking I wish I'd never got my versa can't transfer music onto it won't connect over my phone's WiFi which is 2.4GHz or my home WiFi and now I'm having sync problems with my phone it last synced lastnight and just keeps saying will sync soon when I do press the sync button problem after problem with mine 🤬

You unfortunately are having a lot more problems with your Versa than I have.  The only thing i would change about my purchase is i wouldn’t have paid extra for the special edition since I don’t use the chip feature and there are tons of woven bands available online now.

Maybe you should try to exchange yours?  Maybe you have a lemon?

I don't think I could I got it about a month and half ago. Managed to get my watch to sync to my phone after resetting it's just the music transfer now 😕

Yeah. Mine syncs whenever IT wants but I can never make it sync when I want
to...it just says unable to do so and gives me the red exclamation mark of
doom but an hour later if I check I'll see it synced at some point. I
basically can't control it as I wish i could. Idk if that's normal, for the
amount we paid for it, you would think that would not be a thing.

I must admit I'm feeling rather disappointed with it to say I spent £200 On it was hoping it to be more lol

Exactly! Im not an apple user but this device is the first device to make
me seriously consider getting an iPhone so I could get the Apple watch and
call it a day. That one seems to do all these things without all the hassle
and price wise, this is very close to it.

This is exactly how I feel. My Christmas gift from hubby I may be asking for the apple watch.

Question: are there other items using WIFI nearby wherever you're trying to sync? I found that turning off my Alexa helped with that at least when pairing my Versa. My Alexa is NOT even close to where I was doing a reset last time BUT it appears to make a difference. Maybe try turning off some items like that and see if helps.

Same about the chip. I have not set it up and IDK if I will. If it is so buggy, is it safe to even use this function? I don't know. I may down the line but not right now. I have used the Starbucks app once. That was good. haha.

I do not want to jinx myself but right now most things are doing ok with my Versa other than my inability to sync at will but hey, as long as it syncs within reasonable times I think it's ok. I really don't want an apple watch so I'm really hoping my versa remains stable AND I'm excited to take it swimming....while under warranty to find out if it will survive and I hope it does. 🙂

Ugh. I'm not an apple user and I really don't want to change that. I'm hoping things turn around on the Versa. What problems are you having? Is it the extra steps so many people get or something else?

I only have it for almost a week now. It started great but then notifications went away completely. To be honest, that's kind of a big deal to me. I use the phone to track activities and steps (and sleep) and I like to get notifications too. That's almost all I do with my watch and that's why I switched my old Apple Watch to a Versa instead of getting the more expensive Apple Watch 3. So losing the notifications was bad and I was seriously thinking about returning the watch, but then I managed to shut BT off and back on and everything was suddenly working great, and is still working. So if the notifications don't go away again, I'll be happy.

My two main complaints are:

1 - no Hebrew fonts for notifications

2 - can't reply to texts right from the watch

Apple Watch has these 2 features and they work great.

So the watch is still in 'trial mode' but there are things I like about it too:

- it looks better than an apple watch IMHO

- it's waterproof

- it's a Fitbit so obviously integrated with the fitbit app. I used to wear an apple watch AND a fitbit

- it's simple

- it can be paired both with Android and IOS so now I am free to switch to Android if I want to

No, I won't be returning mine unless something unforeseen happens. It's exceeded my expectations. I love it.

Minor problems, such as the weather app being a tad finicky - but that's not why I bought it and they are being addressed. (I didn't even know there was a weather app when I bought it.) There will always be some details to be addressed when a device needs to interact with so many different systems and technologies (keeping up with changes in multiple phones, computers, operating systems, wireless technologies etc).

The support here is excellent, and I appreciate having the community to keep me motivated in getting and staying fit.

Yes, I wish I had returned it when I was within the time period when I could.  The heart rate accuracy is terrible and that is an important feature to me.  I thought a firmware upgrade would be coming, so I waited.  But it hasn't come out months later.  I hear that Fitbit should be making a profit by the fall -- so maybe then they can put some resources behind correcting their Versa (and Ionic) problems.  The apple conference is in about 2 weeks.  Going to see if their watch has improved battery life. If so I will purchase that and dump the Versa.  sigh.

Best Answer

No, I love my Versa and haven't had a single issue with it.

That being said, I wish I would have waited.  I probably would've pre-ordered the Charge 3 instead for $50 less since I don't use the extra features the Versa has that the Charge 3 doesn't.  I just didn't know when the Charge 3 announcement was coming.  Oh well!

Yes,  as much as I really like it when it works I have never in my life spent so much time trying to get it to work correctly,  my hr2 worked perfectly for over a year and never any problems, upgrade to versa and problem after problem after problem

Best Answer

Not would I return my Versa, I did! Similar problems you're having and mentioned on the community boards: not synching, not connecting to WIFI, incorrect steps, screen not responding - so yes many software issues. If that wasn't enough, I also got a burn on my wrist and now one month later I am still unable to wear my old Fitbit on that arm. You're right about Fitbit not wanting to really give any clear-cut answers. I haven't given up yet though. There are many software issues, seeing how it is a new product hopefully they will be ironed out over the course of the next couple of months. Separate to that are any possible hardware issues, I'm hoping the burn I got on my arm was a fluke, maybe I was just unlucky in receiving one that caused this. My decision was to return it so I could get a refund, and I will probably give it another go in a couple of months when maybe there are less software issues, and hopefully I won't get another burn on my arm.

Best Answer

To late for me now otherwise I'd return it in a heartbeat. I keep hoping for a miracle like full refunds for those still under warranty since I have doubts they'll  ever fix this **ahem**. Doesn't sync anymore, just says "we've scheduled your sync..." and never does. Bottom button no longer works. Card readers no longer recognize fitbit pay. I could return under warranty but would I get someone else's refurb, or a new one that may even work worse?  At least it keeps time accurately and that's about all that's accurate.

Best Answer
You should demand a replacement for a new one. No refurb. That's nonsense
at this stage since it's such a new product. You should try that. If it
isn't syncing at all then it's a paperweight that gives you time and date.
You have nothing to lose.

I really like my versa a lot.  It's comfortable to wear and it works.  Now if fit bit could straighten out their app, things would be awesome.
