Fitbit app changes sleep stages into sleeppattern

After wearing my Versa during the night i saw my sleepstages after syncing. The night after that i did the same to compare the two sleepstages. But suddenly the sleepstage from the day before was changed into a sleeppattern. How is that possible?

Hello @SunsetRunner thanks for joining the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board.

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for sharing your experience with us. Tell me, which phone are you currently using? Have you restart it lately? If so, I would like to suggest you to go to the Sleep Section of the online Dashboard and check if your Sleep Stages are showing correctly here. If they are, please try the following in the app:

  • Force-quit the app, then open it again and check. If this doesn't seem to work
  • Log out from the app, restart your phone and log back in.

Give these steps a try and let us know the outcome, we'll be happy to help in case you need further assistance.

Goodmorning MarcoG, thank you for advice. Unfortunately the steps you mentioned didn't work.

In my account I entered "sensitive" instead of "normal". May that be the problem? Moreover the sleepstages the day after didn't change into sleeppattern. So it only occured one time. Next week I will try it again and let you know.

What if the sleep stages are NOT showing up in the online dashboard either? I haven't had them show correctly for about a week. Tried restarting fitbit multiple times and fully charging. Nothing works.

I wear my Versa for the last 6 nights and the problem I mentioned (fitbit app changes sleepstage into sleeppattern) didn't occur any more. So I hope that everything goes well now!

Hello @EmilyB22 thanks for joining the conversation, it's great to have you on board. Thanks for taking the time to reply, I hope you're doing well.

First of all, I would like to apologize for the delay in the response. @SunsetRunner thanks for coming back and let us know your issue has now been resolved, I'm very glad.

@EmilyB22, thanks for your participation in the Forums and for sharing your experience with us.

Please note that the Fitbit app currently has in-app error notifications that provide an explanation for why you aren't receiving Sleep Stages on any given night. This is meant to provide insight into what might be occurring to cause this. The error messages are the following:

  1. We need more than 3 hours of sleep to reliably calculate your sleep stages. Learn more
  2. Your tracker couldn't get a consistent heart rate reading while you slept. Learn more
  3. We couldn’t generate sleep stages for this sleep. Please try again tomorrow. Learn more

When you tap on Learn more, you will be able to get more information about why your tracker didn't record sleep stages. Additionally, I'd like to suggest the following:

  • For any of the nights you were expecting to see Sleep Stages, did you ever click on the "Begin Sleep Now" or "Add Sleep Log" functions within the Fitbit App?
    • This is important to note because your tracker uses auto-detection to track Sleep Stages; so there's no need to try and remember to click on anything before falling asleep!
  • Do you have at least 3 consecutive hours of sleep?
    • This is important to note because you typically won't see sleep stages if you are waking up multiple times through out the night or taking short naps.
  • Your tracker's battery isn't at a critically low level prior to falling asleep.
  • Your device is tracking and syncing heart rate data.
    • This is important because Sleep Stages uses a combination of your movement and heart-rate patterns.
  • Your Fitbit App is updated to the latest version.

Give this a try and let us know the outcome.
