The clock face I had suddenly changed to something else when I synced last night. Fitbit phone support confirmed this morning that they have removed several Fitbit-supplied clock faces. There used to be 22 Fitbit-supplied clock faces and now there are 14.
That doesn't make a lot of sense because it costs nothing for Fitbit to leave them there.
FITBIT: PLEASE RESTORE THE CLOCK FACES YOU REMOVED. Thank you.

Hi, this is a message not a question that needs to be solved. Nevertheless, I think you must contact Customer Support about this and ask them to restore the watch faces. Good luck!!

Thanks. I did contact customer support. The phone rep indicated that they had no way to do this themselves and no way to pass along such a request. He suggested posting a request here, in the hope that a Fitbit employee monitoring forums would see it and pass it along. That's why I posted here.
FITBIT: If you're monitoring this please respond to let us know if the request can be passed along and acted upon.

Hi, what you also can do is to post it in the Feature Suggestions Board, which is not only created for these requests but also draws attention of board members for the posted issue.
