Fitbit restarting itself

My versa has been restarting itself frequently. I am assuming this is a hardware issue and not a setting I have unknowingly activated?

Is anyone having a similar issue or have any advice?

YES!!!  I just got my Versa yesterday.  While my experience with the initial set up was fine, today it's been nothing but disappointment.  It's been restarting on its own plus the weather app isn't performing properly.

***UPDATE: 5-3-18***  I did a factory reset last night (5-2-18) and did not change the clock face. I am using the Fitbit default clock face called Layers. I decided not to change the clock face only because I was suspicious of there possibly being some kind of a bug within the clock face that I was using. I was using SpaceX.  So far it has not restarted itself and everything is working properly.  I will update if it starts behaving badly.  🙂

Ugh, Everything else works great and I really want to like it. I guess I’ll be returning it.

called customer services and we did a factory reset. Hopefully this works

I suspect the clock face is causing the restart.

Change to a default one and give that a try next time this happens.

Hi stevenang88.  Do you know something about some of the clock faces perhaps causing problems with the Versa?

@SunsetRunner yes me too! My versa started to reset itself while syncing and I couldn’t figure out why. But I never had this issue before until I realized it could be the watch face I was using which was also space x. So I changed it and I haven’t had any issues with restarting so far.

If certain clock faces are the culprit of random restarts, we should make note of them and let the moderators and/or customer support know, so they can be fixed/removed.

@swim4lifekac I agree but I’m just making speculation since the 2 of us had the same clock face with the same issue. If more people can confirm this that would be great. Now I’m a bit nervous chosing a clockface lol.

@Jayelo I  have thought it was clock face related as well, but not so sure as to alarm Fitbit as to which clock face.  If I become certain it is a particular clockface (through my own repeated testing), I would notify Fitbit support.

Yes. How do we contact Fitbit support? I believe it could be that particular watch face. I’ve put it on and off my watch and my Fitbit has only restarted when I had that watch face on. I’ve used others with no problems. I would hate for consumers to blame the Versa and return it not understanding that it could have been the type of watch face they were using. Although I’ve heard other say the Fitbit restarted during exercise when mine had only restarted when I synced it. Not sure if there is a correlation there.

Mine was restarting throughout the day all day yesterday while I was at work.  I would think it's probably the watch face and has nothing to do with whether you were exercising or not.

When I got home from work last night it didn't really occur to me that it was the watch face so I did a factory reset. I kept the default Fitbit watch face, Layers, and then today I switched to another Fitbit watch face, Light. I have had no problems with any aspect of the Versa. I think I will just stick with the watch faces that Fitbit developed for now.

I don't know about anyone else, but in my case, it is not the watch face. I tried one of the other "off brand" watch faces when I first received my Fitbit and started having problems a week later. I did the whole reset to factory specs, removed and reloaded the app and told my phone to forget the bluetooth device. Once everything was reloaded, it worked for a week on factory default and then went right back to doing the same thing. I have since done 3 or 4 wipes and restarts and every time I still get shutdowns and random restarts. It seems to track my steps and everything throughout the day, the face just does not function properly since it has to do a full restart every time. Also makes it a pain when working out. I have to keep the screen on through my entire workout (draining the battery life) otherwise it restarts and loses the time. I'm doing one last refresh now before I call Fitbit. Fingers crossed!!!
