Is there a way to place heart rate on the always-on screen? Are there other options to place on this screen?

Hi @SunsetRunner, welcome to the community.

 

You can have a look in the App gallery at clock faces which offer AOD, these will be of various designs and functionality (3rd party developers). Although I think having the HR on the always on clock face would be somewhat useless considering that the faces are limited to refreshing every minute (to conserve battery) when in AOD mode.
