How does Fitbit pay work in Canada?-Versa

I'm debating whether or not it's worth getting the special edition Fitbit versa that includes Fitbit pay. I have a couple questions about it. 

How does the Fitbit pay work? Is there an app u need to open first? Or do u just hold the versa close to a terminal and it automatically activates. 

Does Fitbit pay work anywhere u can tap to pay? Like with regular credit card terminals that have tap to pay? Or does it have to be some sort of specific Fitbit terminal?

Fitbit pay in Canada only supports 2 banks right now. Will it support more banks in the future? And will it be soon?

It won't comment on new banks being added though - fitbit rarely discuss their future plans.
