Inaccurate calories

I have a Versa Lite and I am very confused about the calories. I do not wear my Fitbit when I sleep, but when I wake up the Fitbit says I burned 300-400 calories. How is it calculating my calories when I am not wearing it?

Fitbit takes your stats (gender, age, height, weight) to estimate a Base Metabolic Rate (BMR) which is that energy you use to stay alive. It then adds in activity calories to give you a total calorie count. When you don't wear the unit it continues to add BMR calories to your total. Calorie count just like steps starts at midnight.  More info at this page:
