Invite a child to a private group

We've got 4 family members in a private group and I'd like to invite my 8 year old son but there's not the option to do so. I have him as friend, I've tried everything I can but no luck.

That's probably due to a limitation on child accounts. Federal law prohibits a child under 13 from participating in a social network.
