I really liked my Versa but now I'm frustrated by this "loading" issue. Sometimes the watch works fine, other times, I can't tell time for hours. This is not what I expect for the price I paid.

Hello @Mareyeka .I'm not sure what screen you see the loading issue on.
As for not being able to tell time for hours, iIdon't understand.
Or the two related?
Which clock face have you chosen?
As for returns. if purchased through Fitbit you have 45 days.

More hours than not, my watch says "loading" when I try to check the time. It doesn't matter what clock face I am using. From 7 pm or so until midnight when I went to bed last night, the watch said "loading" despite synching.
I have 45 days from purchase, I am well within the time frame. But if it's a defective product, one can make enough of a fuss for a refund after that as well. I have been working with the fitbit people to try to resolve the issue, but there should not be an issue to begin with.
Update:
And now the watch is back to saying "Loading..."
It's a shame. I really liked this device when I got it. Now I'm leaning towards agreeing to those who think it's junk.

Have you tried doing a factory reset of the Versa?

Hello @Mareyeka and @Rich_Laue and welcome aboard to the Fitbit Community @generalmills33. I appreciate your input.
I was reading the Fitbit Versa keeps loading regardless oif what clock face you have selected. A factory reset is a good practice although I would like to recommend a sof restart before. For more details please review this article: How do I restart my Fitbit device?
If the issue continue, then as @generalmills33 mentioned, try a factory reset. Just keep in mind this will delete all your music and apps in order to restore the Versa to its factory form.
See you around and hope this helps.

I have this issue as well. For background, it started when the software in the watch was updated a couple of weeks ago. At the same time I chose a new watch face.
It seems em a to be related to the watch being out of Bluetooth range of my phone. When I open the app or take the watch away from the phone, it goes into loading mode.
