Hi, I bought a fitbit versa this afternoon, but it keeps counting steps everytime I move my arm and when I actually walk it's not counting any. While laying down in bed watching Netflix I apparently walked 450 steps. I bought this watch so I could keep track off my steps but this not working is a real mishap. Fitbit has to take this issue seriously since people who buy it for that option are being let down, me included.

Try restarting your tracker several times and see if that improves the counting of steps. However, as a wrist worn tracker, it counts arm movements so there will be some false steps (though generally not a significant number over a day or a week).

But she said she got 450 steps while in bed watching Netflix so how is that not a siginificant amount? I don't think that answer is helpful.

I've reset my watch 2 times and guess what, while recharging it during the reset it counted 500+ more steps. This while just laying there and me not even even wearing it ! So in a total of 2hours I apparently walked 900+ steps while doing nothing. I'm not talking about an inaccuracy of 5 or 10 steps while moving but of hundreds while laying down or not wearing it. So I don't think I have to tell you more how big of an issue this is. Fitbit has to acknowledge this problem because their good name they gained will get ruined looking at all the bad reviews this watch already has.
