Need help with syncing

So, I entered the Fitbit world at the weekend with a new Versa, and to say I'm frustrated with it is an understatement...

Problems so far are:

Syncing doesn't work - it's fine when off WiFi, but doesn't work when on WiFi. It's useless to me if it won't sync when I'm at home and will naturally connect to my WiFi network.

Notifications don't work - the app is set to allow notifications from my phone, my phone is set to push notifications to the watch, and the watch is set to receive notifications. Nothing happens.

Calls don't show - I assume this is the same issue as the notifications, but phone calls don't display on the watch. It's only after reading the PDF manual that I see the call answering functionality is only on iOS too... Any plans to bring this to Android, particularly as my outgoing Garmin could do this?

Music controls don't work - the watch is set to control music on my phone, Bluetooth is set to pair on the watch, but when I run a Bluetooth device scan on my phone, Versa Classic doesn't appear? What am I doing wrong?

My phone, a Sony Xperia XZ1 (i.e. a current, flagship phone) runs stock Android 8.0. I've read the PDF manual, loads of forum posts online, and have reinstalled the Fitbit app, rebooted the watch and re-paired the watch countless times. The watch is set so that All-Day Sync and Always Connected are on.

The two main reasons I bought the Versa were the smart functionality and the looks of the Versa. If I can't get the smart functions working then it's just a very expensive, if nice-looking, step counter. I don't doubt there are many happy users out there, just not me. Yet.

Help!!!

Regarding the syncing issue: I had the same problem. I have the Pixel 2 and I turned off All Day Sync. It only syncs when the app is open however it hasn't delayed once since I turned that off. Maybe that'll work for you? 😕

Try the factory reset on the watch for the syncing issues. It helped me. I can’t get music onto my band it doesn’t like my WI-FI speed I guess. Which stinks. Won’t connect to my WiFi.

Thanks for the input. Certainly since posting yesterday, things have improved slightly and the Versa is syncing intermittently, but not through any obvious action on my part. Having read other posts, I'm inclined to put some of the ongoing issues down to server problems on Fitbit's part, rather than anything specifically that I'm doing or not doing.

Turning All-Day Sync on or off doesn't appear to have any noticeable effect on the performance, but I've set it to off for now as I don't need my Versa to very periodically sync with the app (and I understand that this setting doesn't affect notifications anyway).

I am now getting notifications from apps and messages, but it's inconsistent. I'll get some of them straight away, at other times it's a while later, and sometimes it's not at all. There's no obvious pattern to it. Call notifications are the same.

So, it's an improvement, but I still wouldn't say the watch is fully functional. I acknowledge that my phone is apparently an unsupported device, but Android phones running the latest OS can't be that different, and I assume it just means that Fitbit haven't formally tested the Versa/app on that device, rather than it being a sign that it won't work at all.

I'll persevere with it for now...
