No Android connectivity and Windows 10 intermittent

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Versa Firmware 32.33.1.30.

Android version 8.0 app version 2.85 (20213353).

Sony Xperia X.

I am about to give up with this watch. It is costing me so much time trying to sync.
As of 3 days ago, I cannot sync with my phone AT ALL. It had been intermittent since the firmware upgrade.
I've tried resetting the Versa. I've just uninstalled the app from my phone and re-installed. I cleared the cache before uninstalling.
I've linked my watch as instructed. Still no connectivity at all.

In fact all I am seeing now is the Restart Bluetooth message.
Don't ask me to use WiFi as it has NEVER worked on this watch.

Every time I start up Win10, the only way to get connectivity is to remove the Versa from the Bluetooth devices using Win10, then rescan for it, THEN start the Fitbit App. If it is feeling generous it connects.
However, not all data is being transferred BACK to the watch. Exercise stays at 0 of 5. Sleep stats are never updated but they show up ok in the app.

The watch generally does what it is supposed to do BUT WITHOUT CONNECTIVITY IT IS USELESS.

All of these connectivity issues have come since I upgraded the watch firmware.

@PinkyRabbit Perhaps stick to one device when syncing for now? If you're planning on syncing with Android phone, make sure the bluetooth on your laptop is off. Now, as you have obviously tried lots of things, factory reset included, have you tried downgrading fitbit mobile app to version 2.74.2? You will not be able to log the water on your Versa and use custom emojis in quick replies, but pretty much that's it. Many people have reported success with this build.

@MarrrmadukeI never have the laptop powered up when trying to sync with the phone and my phone default is Bluetooth off and app not running. I always start things manually.

However, I may have sort of solved this as far as my phone is concerned. I painstakingly looked at other threads and found someone mentioning setting up the Music Via Bluetooth to "pair" on the Versa itself. Since I have done this I have been able to connect with the phone. It identifies to the phone as "Versa (classic)" now.

However, I'm not holding my breath on this being a "fix"...

@PinkyRabbit Hopefully it stays this way. BUt if you encounter more issues, you might really think about rolling back to 2.74.2. Good luck!

Ah well, I spoke too soon. I have now given up with trying to connect to the phone completely. I haven't got the time to waste with it.

I will stick to Win10 until that stops working too, then I will take a hammer to the watch ( with great pleasure 🙂 )

I have the Versa and it's paired to my Google Pixel2 XL which is running Android Pie 9.1. I have intermittent bluetooth connectivity. It connects often enough so that my exercise stats sync at a respectable level but I miss most of my notifications as likely 50% of the time it is disconnected. I am referencing when my phone is near. I generally wear it on my belt with my watch on. Or the phone is on my end table. All notifications are on. I have the watch app set to always on, all day sync. I have allowed "All Permissions" on my phone settings for Fitbit and it still connects and disconnects. Any advice? I love the watch. I love the phone but for some reason they don't seem to want to play well together.

Thanks. It was something I hadn't thought of. But...checked and it was not optimized. I also am trying not having the fitbit app on multple devices. Paired with my phone as well as my windows 10 laptop. Shut it down on windows 10 yet I need it to download music. Any other ideas?

@FatherRay I'm on Pixel 3 and it does work. You seem to have covered some of the bases already, so that's what I would do:

  1. Unpair (remove) Versa from your phone's bluetooth settings
  2. Reboot your phone. Do not pair in your phone's bluetooth settings
  3. Reboot your Versa by pressing and holding the left and bottom right buttons until Fitbit logo flashes
  4. Open Fitbit mobile app and sync
  5. Optional: remove wifi network from your Fitbit mobile app. Sync afterwards.

The trick here is to not pair in phone Bluetooth settings but rather let the Fitbit mobile app do that.

Additional tips if sync issues persist: If you have Wifi set up, go to Fitbit mobile app and remove it, then sync your Versa. I noticed that it causes issues for me. If you have other Bluetooth devices paired with your phone, forget them. One of them might be causing issues. Also, make sure Always Connected and All day sync are enabled.

Hi Marmaduke
Thanks for your tips. I am trying the first suggestion as I write. I forgot the Versa on my phone, rebooted the versa and ran the sync on the mobile Fitbit app. I checked my phone under ' Connected devices" and it does not show the Versa as a connected device or as a previously connected device, yet the app synced with my Versa and when I had my wife text me, the notification appeared on the watch. So it must be connected even though it does not appear to be in my phone? Doesnt make sense to me but it seems to work. Its nownbeen about 2 hrs now and it is working great! If this doesnt work consistently, I will attempt removing wifi although it doesn't show connected on Versa. I sure appreciate your suggestions and time helping. I wish I knew why my pixel xl2 doesnt show the Versa as available or connected but it obviously is. Thank You

@FatherRay that's normal behaviour. Mine doesn't show up at first either. Yes, it is connected. Usually it shows up in the Connected Devices list after some time. Glad I could help! 😊
