There is no option to install the music app (it's not on my watch currently). I've tried a factory reset to no avail.

Hello @wusson and welcome to the Community.  I haven't used a Versa 2 in a while, so this information is from the Versa 2 manual.  The Versa 2 has a Music Control feature that lets you control music from your phone.  See page 56 of the manual for more details.  If you have personal music on your Versa 2, you also control it with the Music Controls.  If you never put personal music on your Versa 2, you can't now.  Fitbit deactivated Fitbit Connect and the Windows 10 app some time ago.  Fitbit also deactivated Pandora and Deezer.

There is a Spotify - Connect & Control app that lets you control Spotify playing on your phone, if you have Spotify Premium.
