Not Receiving Notifications on Fitbit Versa

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi there,
All of a sudden yesterday my Fitbit stopped receiving any notifications from my phone. I’ve had the fitbit since Christmas and have never had this issue. I’ve tried all of the tips on this website to get notifications again- restarting Fitbit and iPhone, turning Fitbit off, forgetting Fitbit in Bluetooth from phone and re-establishing. Nothing is working.

Any help would be appreciated.

@KassEccles Welcome to our Fitbit Community! I'm sorry to hear that your Versa has stopped getting notifications.

Please make sure that your phone has the most recent app version installed. Also, try turning off the notifications and turn them back on.

In the meantime, let me know what is your iPhone's model.

Looking forward to your response! Smiley Happy

I am not receiving  notifications  on my Fitbit versa. I have a Samsung 10 . I have deleted  and installed  my Fitbit app. I have also turn off my Fitbit and turn back on. My watch has been sync to my phone.  Can I try anything  else?

Best Answer

I believe it could have something to do with the most recent update to the app mine stopped working yesterday as well!

I have closed the app, turned off Bluetooth, turned off notifications both in app and in my Iphone for the Fitbit.. turned my phone off and then turned everything back on.. nothing..

Very frustrating!!

I am having the same issue!! I have an iPhone 5SE. I have updated the app too....

nothing is working.

This happens a lot - and the notifications do come back (although they haven't this time) for no reason I can see. It's very frustrating.

UPDATE:

you are right! I stopped getting the text notifications when I updated the app yesterday!

UPDATE 2:

OK. I did NOTHING different since this morning and it's working again

I am having the same issue with the iphone xsmax. I sometimes have to delete the device and shut off bluetooth and start over. It will work at home then when I get to work it stops and can't get it going again. When I try to turn on notifications and sync all day it says I need bluetooth paired which it is and then the app just keeps trying to refresh the notifications and all day sync.

This is VERY frustrating.

Hi @JuanJoFitbit ,

I’ve updated to the latest Fitbit app and have tried turning the notifications on and off many times.

My iPhone is the 6s. Seems this is an issue also baffling the Fitbit team as I’ve been emailing them also! Interestingly, if I swipe down to get my notifications on Fitbit, most of the notifications are shown up. But I’m not alerted in anyway to them coming through anymore.

Hello @doubletrouble4@KassEccles  and @Vjohnston79 thanks for joining the Fitbit Community. It's nice to see you around too @cwiedinm and @nascargirl1997. 🙂

First of all, I would like to apologize for the delay in the response. I appreciate you have already tried the troubleshooting steps provided by @JuanJoFitbit in hopes to resolve this issue. Note that Notifications skip or stop occasionally for several reasons that don't suggest a problem with your device or the Fitbit app, which is why I would like to ask you to check the following:

  • Your phone was too far away. It must be within 30 feet of your Fitbit device to transmit the notification.
For texts, you have the conversation open on your phone. Your Fitbit device shows new texts you haven't already read.
You changed a related setting on your phone, such as turning on Do Not Disturb, Quiet hours, or Driving mode. To double check all requirements, see How do I get notifications from my phone on my Fitbit device?
  • You're using another Bluetooth product. If you have Bluetooth products like speakers, headsets, or car stereos paired to your phone along with your Fitbit device, you may have trouble using more than one at the same time. For example, turning on your speaker might stop your phone from sending a notification or syncing. For more information, see Is the Fitbit app interfering with other Bluetooth devices?
  • The connection between your phone and Fitbit device is unstable. Bluetooth signals are susceptible to disconnecting or dropping occasionally. If you have an Android phone, check the following:
    • Make sure Enable Notification Widget is on. You can find this with the other notification settings in the Fitbit app.
    • Make sure Always Connected is on. This improves your Bluetooth connection but also drains your Fitbit device's battery more quickly. Turn it off and on as you prefer.
    • Make sure the Fitbit app is allowed to run in the background on your phone. For more information, see Why is the Fitbit app sending a notification to my Android phone?
  • The app that should send the notification can't do so. Check all the phone and Fitbit app requirements in How do I get notifications from my phone on my Fitbit device?
  • Your device was syncing. Syncing can sometimes prevent or delay a notification.
  • You just updated the Fitbit app. Restart your phone and try setting up notifications again.
  • Device lock is active on your Fitbit watch and you haven't recently entered your PIN. Tap your watch screen to see if the device lock prompt appears. If it does, enter your PIN.

If you've reviewed the list above and can't get notifications to work, please try the following:

  1. Force-quit the Fitbit app, then open it again and sync your tracker.
  2. Restart the Bluetooth on your phone once again.
  3. Reset your Versa once again.
  4. Refresh Notifications:
    • From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Account icon
    • Tap Notifications.
    • Turn off all notifications
    • Restart your phone.
    • Open the Fitbit app and turn notifications back on.
  5. Set up Notifications again:
    • Tell your phone to "forget" your device, removing the connection between the phone and the Fitbit device.
      1. On your phone, go to Settings > Bluetooth and find your Fitbit device in the list.
      2. Find an option to forget the device.
    • Open the Fitbit app and set up notifications again.

Give these steps a try and let us know in case you need further assistance.

The only way I have found it to work is to shut down my phone and restart
it. It is SO annoying. Happens every day or so.

I have tried all these too including a factory reset.  I have an iPhone so think I’m about to join the iwatch community.  I’m so over this!!

I have tried all of this. Nothing has worked to correct this issue. I need to know when I am getting messages.  That is what I paid for. At this point it has been over a month and no one has corrected the issue.

Don't know if this was a fluke or not, but got mine working.

I tuned phone off and back on.

I turned watch off and back on.

I marked all the  notifications in the Fitbit app.

I turned phone off and back on.

I turned watch off and back on.

I sent a message to myself from another device. (It seems that if you send a message with your message app open, there is no notification sent to watch)

No texts here either. Both my husband’s Ionic and my Versa no longer receives messages. We’ve tried all the trouble shooting recommendations. We are both very close to swapping to another smart watch brand. I’ve been a Fitbit user since the original tracker. It will be a big change, but receiving messages on my watch is one of the main reasons I wear a smart watch. Really disappointed.

It’s been MONTHS.

Yes, I can get it working again if I reboot my phone and sometimes turn
notifications on/off.

However, I have to do this at least once a day because it stops working..

I'm still getting mine. Makes you wonder why some are and some aren't.
