Not able to read Text messages

I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 and while I'm getting notifications that I have a text message, I am not able to see who it's from or to read it.  I have in-connected the Versa from my phone and re-connected it, re-booted both phone and Versa, and everything else I can think of. 

Any suggestions?

@Suziemac Just to clarify, do you mean that Versa shows you a notification but when you tap on it, it does not open to reveal the message body?

Yes, that is correct.  I'll get a green 'Message' notification, when I tap it, it gives me 3 options, *Clear*, *Open* & *Reply*.  when I tap *Open* it opens up the message on my phone, not on my wrist.

If I could at least see who is sending the message I would be happy.

@Suziemac Does this happen for all notifications or only text messages? Also, which text messaging app are you using?
