Not getting correct step count

How do you get the Versa to count your steps while you are shopping and have both hands on the cart. It obviously works with the movement of your hand/arm when you are walking because  just like the Garmin I had steps don't count if you are pushing the shopping cart. I used to put my Garmin in my shoe but not comfortable doing that with this expensive watch. Is there a solution or am I just SOL like with the Garmin. I love the versa and it does what I  wanted it to do but someone needs to figure out how to make a step tracker that really tracks your steps.

Put it on a pocket will get good step count but lose heart rate data.  I'm afraid the issue is common to all wrist-worn trackers.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
