Not receiving notifications

good day,

I have not been receiving notications on my Fitbit Versa.

There is an error "notification service not running. A phone restart is required to re- enable notifications on your tracker". I have reset my phone and the fitbit numerous times, but nothing helps.

Phone : Huawei P10 , android 9.1

Fitbit : Versa , firmware 32.70.714

Please urgently help.

Regards,

Hi, @SunsetRunner , have you ever received notifications on your Versa?

When I have similar issues on my Android phone I find the following can get me reconnected:

On your Fitbit app, select your Versa.  On the Versa settings screen scroll down to Notifications and choose that.

Make sure that the notifications you want to receive are turned ON.

Then click the 3 dots top right and choose “send a test call notification”.  It may take a moment or two (while it is checking you will see the option greyed out if you click the dots again - if the colour returns and you have not received the test call, try repeating a couple of times).

If you get a test call notification that should mean your phone is reconnected and you should get all notifications normally.

If that doesn’t work go to your phone’s bluetooth settings, find your Versa click “unpair”, then return to your Fitbit app and try again to send a test call notification.

I find that I lose notifications temporarily if I am in range of another Bluetooth device that can connect to my Versa - for example, when I am out and about I connect through my phone, but at home I use the Fitbit app on my iPad.  If Bluetooth is turned on on my iPad, I am unable to get notifications on my Versa.  Could something similar be happening in your case?

I hope this helps!  Please post again if you continue to have trouble.

I am having this same issue. I replaced my Versa last week as my previous one stopped responding to touch and continuously restarted. The replacement one isn't receiving any notifications despite me ensuring all setting are accurate and restarting my phone multiple times. Also the test call function will work.

I don't received any text, app, calendar, or even my sleep reminder

Hi @Julia_G,

When I use the "send a test call notification" the fitbit vibrates and shows that there is a test call taking place, but I still do not get my notifications. I disabled, then re-inabled the notifications - nothing.

I also unpaired the device and paired it again - nothing.

I dont know what to do anymore 😞

@SunsetRunner  and @MleJ , have you clicked on the individual items on the notifications screen?  I.e. under App notifications you will need to enable each individual app.  Under txt messages you must choose from “messages”, “messenger”, or “whats app”.

If the test call function works then your phone and your Fitbit are properly connected.  Do you get notification of phone calls?

@MleJ your bedtime reminder is set in a different place.  Yu need to go to the sleep section and click on the gear icon and make sure bedtime reminder is set to ON.

I would also recommend having “Always Connected” set to ON.  That’s found at the bottom of the Versa 2 general settings menu.

Thanks for the suggestions. Mysteriously my notifications started coming through an hour ago even though I did nothing since my message.  I wonder if my sleep reminder will come through now on my versa. I should say I have 2 trackers and the sleep reminder came through on the other which is how I noticed it wasn't working on the Versa.

If you tried out the test call notification it was almost certainly that.  That’s what fixes my notifications when they go wrong (it re-connects the phone)

What is your other Fitbit?  Notifications with two Fitbits on the same account can sometimes interfere with each other.

Having the same problem.

Getting a "phone restart to re-enable notifications" error.

Have tried all the methods in their help centre but to no avail including forgetting the BT network and re-syncing

However I'm getting a test call notification but nothing else (what's app, email and others)

Same. I've tried everything you can do, I get the test call but not actual notifications.

I uninstalled fitbit on my phone. Rebooted my phone.
Installed Fitbit on my phone.
Then I get an extra message witch enabled the messaging for android. Works for now.
