Fitbit versa needs a pause/lock function for recording steps (like my pedometer has). Fixing dinner, or my hair, or moving about at my desk, driving, or similar movements should not be adding steps to my Fitbit...but it does! So annoying! Almost 3000 steps added just combing my hair. Now I don’t trust any step numbers, nor do I feel my badges were honestly earned. Software/ functionality update please. If you make a new Fitbit with this feature and my only option is to buy another Fitbit, versus you also updating the software/functionality on my current Versa, then I’m moving on to an Apple Watch.

To decrease sensitivity change your settings. I wear mine on my dominant wrist. My settings are set at non dominate
It can help a lot. Go to settings Wrist orientation and Handedness and change to the opposite that you wear it

Hey @Fitaunt, let me give you a warm welcome to the Community! As you may already know, the wrist Fitbit devices recognize some of the movement of your arms as steps. This also depends on the wrist you are wearing your Versa. If you wear it on your dominant hand, many of your movements will be recognized as steps, since is the hand that you use the most. So please take that into consideration. For further information about this, you can take a look at this help article: How does my Fitbit device calculate my daily activity?

wow! Thank you so much for stating the obvious. So now, let me re-phrase my comment "Software/functionality update please" to a more understandable question. IF Fitbit is working on any upgrades to the functionality of the Versa, is there any consideration of adding "pause" functionality, as found on many pedometers, that allows a user to "pause" the step count as they do activities that don't have steps (such as driving)? In the interim, is there a way to reduce the sensitivity of the Versa? If not, no worries, it is what it is. BUT, if there is a fitness watch out there which has the features of the Versa, plus a pause button, it is highly likely I will switch to them. If not, I encourage Fitbit to be the "1st" with this feature.

@Fitaunt 3000 steps while combing your hair? I envy you your tresses. 😊 Yes, there's a way of decreasing sensitivity of your versa and eliminating ghost steps counted as a result of driving. All these tips have been mentioned ad nauseam on this forum. I encourage you to browse it. I apologize for stating the obvious. 😊

I agree. They have a start option for working out. Why not have an option to pause steps while working out. I'm at the gym lifting weights and at the end of the day I had walked 17,00 steps hardly. I have sucomed to taking it off my wrist when working out. But I lose the.option for it to do anything. Seems like an easy program add on.
