Problem Tracking a HIke with GPS (Versa/App)

Yesterday I upgraded from a Blaze to Versa because my Blaze seems lately to not hold a charge as long as it used to.  Otherwise, I have been very happy with my Blaze.

Today when I hiked I had my phone along and I activated the exercise from the app (Android) because there was no hike option on the Versa.  At the time I did not realize I had to remove an exercise from the app so that I could add the hike option.  When I came home, I was able to figure out how to remove and add exercises and will try out a walk tomorrow at lunch.  At any rate, using the tracking function through the app the route only registered at .5 miles when I actually hiked approximately 2.5 miles at a steady pace over approximately an hour.  I had to delete the exercise and enter it manually--otherwise my pace was way off.

I am hoping the exercise function will work well on the Versa so I will not have to use the app for tracking - but are there any pointers out there for getting an accurate route?  Are potential issues generally related to GPS issues that may occur due to the terrain?  Or are there other things to look out for?

There are 15 exercise shortcuts to choose from, but you cannonly have 7 on the Versa. On your app go to Versa and scroll down to Exercise shortcuts. If you have alrwady go 7 assigned to the Versa yiu will need to remove one (swipe to the left) before you can see the whole list. Yiu can add and remove from there, sync your Versa and you should be all set. Let us know how you go

Thank you - that did the trick to let me pick the exercises I was looking for.  I will try that functionality tomorrow.  I revised my post when I figured out most of my complaint was due to operator error!
