Ring Doorbell

I have a Michael Kors Smart watch and you can be notified when somebody buzzes your Ring Doorbell and also you can unlock the Yale Smart Lock with it. Is this something the Versa will be able to do soon? I love my MK watch but the battery life is terrible so if these features are possible I'll definitely get the Versa.

I get Ring notifications to my Versa. Here's how you do it (once Fitbit gets the connectivity issues worked out, but it can't hurt to go ahead and try and see if it works now). Assuming the you have Ring send notifications to your phone, like motion detected or actually ringing the bell...go ahead and make one of those occur (either motion detection, or ring the bell), so you get the notification on your phone. Next, go into the Fitbit app...open your account, click Versa, scroll down and click Notifications, click App Notifications, and in there is where you will see any phone apps that Fitbit can send notifications to the Versa. You should see Ring Video Doorbell in there. Simply turn it in, and you're good to go!

I also have mine set up where I get notications from my WiFi garage door opener app and from my exercise app (Endomondo). I'll probably be setting up notifications for my Dyson app so I get notified when it's time to change the filters on my air purifiers!

THIS IS AMAZING! Thank you thank you thank you. I'm not the OP, but this has let me have a notification for my smart light, Kuna.

You're very welcome! It is my understanding that any app that sends notifications to your phone (not TEXT messages, but its own app notifications), you can do this with. The key to it is to have a notification sent first, and then it will show up as an available app within the Fitbit app. Then you can turn that app on within Fitbit's app, and it will send notifications to Versa. 🙂

Had so much problem from pairing Bluetooth, adding location for weather so thought I would have the same issue with ring doorbell.  But your instruction was very simple and easy to follow.  Notification from ring works in my versa.  Awesome!  Thank you so much.

I realize this is an old thread, but I have a Versa question. This process worked fine on my Android, but my husband's iPhone doesn't show a list of all the apps that have the ability to receive notifications. It took a little bit to find the mail notification which is where you suggested the Ring app would be.

Any help is appreciated.

Hello @maryfrustrate thanks for joining the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board.

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for sharing your experience with us. Please note that the lit of "App Notifications" gets populated by apps that have sent a push notifications to a phone. That means that in order for a specific app to show up on this list, your husband should receive a push notification from said app while his phone is locked. Then, tell him to go to the Fitbit app and tap on Account > Versa > Notifications > App Notifications.

If the app is still not showing up, swipe down to refresh the list and if the app doesn't show, force-quit the app, then open it again and check.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, if there's anything else we can do for you, please feel free to reply.

I am glad to see I am not the only one. I have an Ionic and android phone and sometime last week I stopped getting my ring notifications on my ionic. I have deleted and reinstalled both my fitbit app and my ring app, and reset all settings, re-paired my fitbit to my phone and did almost everything imaginable, still nothing. Hope to see this resolved, I was hoping the firmware update that happened the other night was the solution, nope.

Question. Are you not getting the Ring notification (even when you check where the notification should be displayed on your Versa), or is the Versa simply not vibrating letting you know that the notification is there? I was getting notifications on Versa, but it was simply not vibrating letting me know it was there.

If it is simply not vibrating, here is what I posted in another thread that is still working so far...

I was also simply not having the Versa vibrate when a notification would come through. All notifications were on the Versa (as long as I looked for them), just no vibration alerting me. I would, though, get the vibration when a phone call would come through, just not with text messages or app notifications. I tried all the basic/non-intrusive stuff, like simply Forget This Device in bluetooth settings, etc. But, here is what did work for me.

I simply removed the Versa from the Fitbit app, and then added it back in. Aaaaaaand the vibrations returned (for now anyway...we'll see if it lasts). Of course, the sucky part is, is that now all the apps that I added are no longer there, and it's a "process" to add them back. While this sucks, at least it is working correctly. Phone call notification works, app notification works, text and calendar notification works...including the vibration alert on Versa for all notifications.

I do have the latest Fitbit app, the most recent Versa firmware, and the latest iOS 13.1.2 on my iPhone SE.

Hope this helps!

Same here (also Ionic). It started failing after the 10/2/2019 update to the Ring Android App. I've got a support case open with Ring. Will let you all know what comes of it

Hi all I posted a work around for the versa 2 in this post. It is using Alexa to send a message to the Alexa app on the watch

Thank you! That worked. Only I had to turn off "In App Notifications" in Ring to get Ring to show up in App Notifications on Fitbit.
