Rowing support?

Very intrigued to getting the new Fitbit Versa. How I row alot! Both on an erg and in a sculling boat. Will the new versa be able to track the rowing motion during activity, rather than going back in editing the activity?

Thanks

J

Hi @Jbultman. Welcome to the Fitbit Community!

Rowing will not be an exercise shortcut on Versa, nor will it be an activity recorded by SmartTrack. My suggestion would be to log "rowing" as an exercise in the app. Hope this answers your question!

Just finished 7000m on my erg.  I was also hoping that rowing would somehow be supported but I see the first reply was a no. I figured I'd chime in anyway just so that FitBit knows there's a rowing market out there. 🙂

That said, did you see Concept2's PM5 has Bluetooth and app support? So that's an option if you have that brand of erg. Doesn't help on a real boat, but it's something. And because it's driven by the erg itself, it can report more stats than a wearable could.

   Thanks...

Why not? It seems people have been asking for this for several years. I would also like to have rowing supported by FitBit

I think it is something which should be considered.  Since Versa was toting tracking new things bought it before doing my research.   Disappointed.

Yes I agree. If swimming is an option then rowing should be! No steps there either!

Another request for Rowing in the tracking, please!

Hi, everyone! Smiley Happy

I noticed last time I was here I didn't provide a link to our Feature Suggestions board. This is the best place to vote and include your ideas for future Fitbit products/features. Since you're all asking for a rowing exercise, consider voting for this feature suggestion asking for it.

Another request to add rowing, please.

People have been asking for rowing since 2015. Fitbit has no intention to add this feature. Garmins have this feature so get that next time.

Hi, I too would like rowing to be an exercise shortcut on my versa and maybe I'm being a little cynical but if rowing isn't available, why is it on the Fitbit Coach app, locked until you sign up to Fitbit Coach Premium which is 3.60GBP per month or 31.55GBP per year.  Something isn't adding up there.

My new Versa 2 is abysmal at tracking my heart rate while on a rowing machine. It will hover at 70 bpm for a full 10 minutes of my row then jump up to 150 bpm, then crash down to 35 bpm! I tried changing the band to something more flexible, and that helps a little but still terrible. It's fine for my runs. Does any one have advice on how to make this better?

Never checked my heart rate when rowing but will do that later this week.

Not sure why that would happen. Maybe the strap is loose? I have a Versa
(not a Versa 2) and it tracks my heart rate fine when I use my rowing erg.

Hope you get it worked out 🙂

I have the same issue with new versa 2.  My old blaze works correctly, but battery doesn’t hold charge more than 12 hours.  Tested the versa 2 with chest strap and PM2+, blaze and Apple Watch.  All except the versa 2 read about the same and don’t jump from 86 bpm to 125, then 110, then maybe 140, back to 86, etc. like the versa 2 does.

fitbit “support” had me reboot, no luck, then reset factory defaults.  I don’t have time to field test their product and run multiple science experiments.

The heart rate rate monitor seems to work ok during normal use, but if a fitness watch can’t measure heart rate during a fitness activity, it is no more useful than a wind up Timex.
