Screen Always On feature not working during exercise

Even after turning on the 'Always-on screen' option in exercise setting menu, the display goes out and I have to turn my wrist  gain or basically use the the auto wake feature for seeing the stats.

This is not the definition of always-on display.

Was thinking that you might have to sync it after you use the alway son feature.
