Second Versa still multiple issues

This is my second Versa, my first one needing replacement because there were so many problems with it. I wanted to wait to post in order to give my replacement Versa a chance, but I have to say this is product has issues if you are a road biker.

I've owned the Alta and the HR 2. Both of these trackers count steps and therefore additional false calories during a bike ride. I have communicated countless times with Fitbit about this issue. I was hoping this issue would finally be resolved with the Versa, but it's even worse.

1-To start it takes over a minute after setting the Versa manually to Bike for it to connect to the iPhone app so the Versa can track your ride. This was an issue with my first Versa as well. It was not an issue with Alta or the HR 2. On today's ride at some point the Versa just stopped tracking the ride, cancelled out of Bike mode, and reverted back to the clock face. Since this is the first time it's happened, I'll see if this issue persists. I suspect it will.
3-Not only does this false step counting happen with the Versa, but the magnitude of the error is much larger. My Alta and HR2 would count maybe 4000-5000 steps during a 20 mile ride, but on a 23 mile ride today the Versa counted over 11,000 steps taken and 32 floors climbed. Fitbit states that's because of hills. It's almost totally flat where I ride.
There is NO way Fitbit could not be aware of these issues and while I'm not a professional programmer, I do have experience programming in the EMR environments. It seems to me that it should be a simple fix to disable step and stair counting while the tracker is manually set to Bike Ride.

  • In addition, just like my first Versa, this new tracker counted 3 bike rides yesterday starting about 1-3 minutes apart occurring simultaneously.
