Last night my sleep data shows I slept for 8 hours 45 minutes but the total sleep is saying 7 hours 31 minutes. Is this a bug?

You would have to explain exactly what you mean by "I slept for" and "total sleep".
Exactly where are you reading those 2 numbers?

The numbers are showing in the app. The sleep stages add up to 8 hours 47 mins and the graph across the top says the same. However it then says I slept for 7 hours 31 minutes. I’ll take a screenshot and post it.

Remember that it includes awake time in with sleep stages.
But "Time Asleep" below the graph and above the "Time spent in each stage of sleep" excludes awake time.
I'm guessing sleep stages says you were awake for 1 hr 16 min, which added to 7 hr 31 min asleep adds up to 8 hr 47 min in bed.

I agree that the sleep stage times do not add up to the total sleep time either with or without the awake time. It appears that something is wrong with the math programming.

Are you folks talking about with or without sleep stages?
Oops - I see @SunsetRunner says sleep stages, though not sure about @Veidor .

I just looked at a few of my sleep logs and, for me at least, in all cases
Deep + Light + REM = Time Asleep

Sorry, I overreacted to my own math error. Rem + Light + Deep do correctly add up to Total Time Asleep

Sorry for delayed response but I wasn't looking at the times correctly.
I was including the figure for Awake time in my calculations
If I just add Light + Deep + REM they add up correctly.
Thanks for the replies 🙂
