Stair counts off

I recently purchased a Versa.  I notice every day that the flights of stairs counted is never right.  I typically do between 10-15 flights a day.  And most days it says 1 counted.  What am I doing wrong?  So far today I have done 7 but my Versa says 1.  Help?!?!

I've unfortunately had the same issue. However sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't as far as tracking the right number of flights of stairs. I can't figure out why it intermittently works though. I have noticed that sometimes if it isn't working, if I am carrying my phone with me, it'll start showing up properly in the app. Makes no sense to me since the tracking is through the watch but that seems to make a difference.

The Versa uses an altimeter to detect floors which works on air pressure changes as you go up.  Additionally, it seems to require arm movements since standing on an escalator isn't measured.  So, you need an elevation change of at least 10 feet "all at once" meaning that a gradual elevation change isn't detected as a flight and, if you stop partway up the stairs for too long, that flight also won't be counted.  If you are carrying something or holding onto the bannister that can interfere.  If you have added a protective bumper to your watch, make sure that the little hole on the back (the altimeter port) isn't covered up which can happen if the bumper is installed incorrectly.  My flight from my basement is at the limit of the 10 feet required.  I raise my Versa arm over my head at the top of the flight to help that flight get counted.  These two articles have information of floor counting.

Ah ha!  So it only counts floors going up and not down.  This afternoon I took the stairs at work...2.5 flights down then back up.  It didn't record the up again.  This thing is kinda crazy.  I guess I won't rely on it being too accurate.

Like stated above are you going up 10 Feet in elevation? Or you holding on to the rails or anything? When Holding on it will not count floors

I go up the exact same stairs and I agree it only counts when going up, and
I dont hold on to the bannister or anything most of the time. But I find I
go up and down several times during the day and only once was counted. It
isn't a persistent issue so it's no clear what the issue is but a little
annoying nonetheless.

Yes...more than 10 feet in elevation.  I sometimes hold the railing...not always.  And not at all today since reading the forums.  I just can't figure it out.

I go up and down the exact same stairs every day.  I live in an apartment building.  My route out is 2.5 flights of steps.  Coming in is the same 2.5 flights.  Each flight has 20 steps and the half is 8 steps.  At work...I go up to the second floor...2.5 flights again (18, 18, 6).  When I go up to the 4th floor...those are 8 flights of about 20 steps.
