I have had my Versa for a few days. While I love it I have noticed that it seems overly sensitive when tracking steps particularly while driving. In a 30 minute drive it clocked up over 1000 steps :S. i wearit on my left wrist and read that changing the setting to dominate hand would possibly resolve this but it has not. Has anyone else had this issue and if so any tips to rectify it ?

Updated to the .15 OS. Drove half a day and it only had 51 steps. But, it registered 71 floors. <sigh>
I’m thinking I will lend it to my daughter for six months and see if that is enough time for FitBit to iron out all of the issues. Maybe not, she doesn’t need the aggravation’s.

I could be patient if Fitbit would tell us that they are aware of the problems and are working on a fix. But so far, in the support case that I have open, I've only been told by them that the Versa should have at most a 4% variance from the Charge 2. Therefore, I suppose my observations and the screen shots and videos that I've sent them showing both devices must be invalid. This is pretty frustrating.

Fitbit support continues to deny that the problem exists. I’ve gone to great lengths to gather data, screen shots and videos to show them the problems. I’m at wits end. This is the second time they’ve responded with the “stiff transmission” line and simply told me that there is no problem.

Thank you for all the detailed information you're providing us regarding the steps and floors getting while you're driving.
Regarding the extra steps you're getting while you're driving, we'd like to let you know that your device has been tested against driving, buses, trains, and other public transportation and should not give you extra steps when you’re traveling under normal conditions. On bumpy roads or in a car with a stiff transmission you may get extra steps. Though a few extra steps won't affect your trends, it's possible to log a driving activity and remove the steps from your account totals. For more information see How do I edit or delete Fitbit data and activities? Also we'd like to recommend you an app called DriveBit, it connects to your Fitbit account and has one button. You press it to when you get in the car and press again when leaving. This time period then synced to Fitbit as driving and removes the false steps.

Yes, but we still should not have to hack our data manually all the time. I sure don't have to do this for my Charge.

This is looks identical to the response I got. I suspect it is a canned response.
So far support has been useless other than sending me canned responses or links to a user manual web page. They clearly do not read the support tickets properly as they ask questions that I answered in my original support request.

I was having the same problem - unusually high step counts. I also woke up one morning and had already taken 88 steps. I changed my exercise shortcuts to auto-pause and that seems to have made a difference, my counts seems MUCH closer to normal. I’ll know for sure in the morning.

Yes, I am an OTR truck driver and I get over 20,000 steps while driving. I only got the Versa, because they discontinued the Blaze. So far the Versa is terrible!

I used the Fitbit app on my phone. Taps the account icon, then Exercise. You will see a list of exercises. Tap one and make sure that the auto pause option has been selected.

Managed to clock up 20k plus steps and 47 flights of stairs all while driving a 8 hour shift in my truck at work today.... Annoying is a understatement, I might as well just guess my daily steps and get my money back !!

I just got over 35,000 steps, 16 miles 548 floors and over 300 minutes of activity riding my Harley yesterday. Huh?

Having the same versa issue here. Drive counted 1100 steps and 15 floors in a 2015 VW Jetta driving on new smooth pacement. Just replaced a blaze with the versa and didn't have the same issue with the blaze.

I’ve used the suggestion posted above about change the auto pause that brought down my amount by about 10000 steps in a 9 hour shift, but it’s still counting my steps much higher then my phone app in my pocket. It’s ruining my Fitbit experience as I brought the Versa as wanted to keep a accurate count of my daily steps!!
