Tracking Laps on FITBIT VERSA

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hello, I swim a mile everyday, but my Versa only shows about 600 yards.  There are 1,760 yards in a mile.   I have put the length of  the pool at 20 yards into my Swim Exercise App on the Versa.

It seems to confuse lengths vs laps, where laps are 2 lenghts.

Question 1:   How does the Versa know when I complete a length or a lap.  Either I don't care, I just want to have that effort put into correct calories burned.
Question 2:   I've read on the community board that you need to touch the wall, is that true??  Please again explain how the  completed length or lap is determined.  Thanks in advance.....

Hi @WPTomassi

Touching the end is not a requirement. What IS needed is that your arms stop moving for a brief period (Ive never timed it!). I use either a tumble turn or a stop and push off the wall and both work fine, as long as your arms stop. The stop and push off creates its own break in the arm movement. The tumble turn you need to push off and glide briefly before you start your arms again. The worst thing you can do is swim around the ends so your arms never stop.

Initially, with my flex 2 (my first fitbit) my lap count wasnt bad, but was rarely correct, but now I have learnt what the trackers need to know my lap count is very rarely wrong.
