The alarm did go off so maybe that’s what’s tracking it but I have it set as wearing it on my dominant hand because I already have had issues with it erroneously tracking steps but this is a little much. I was under the impression dominant hand setting made the tracker less sensitive. 117 steps by 6am when I haven’t even had it on? It says 26 steps at 6am which is when my alarm goes off but no other record of steps other than the main page. Both Fitbit app and Fitbit are up to date. Anyone else have this problem? Have solutions?

Thank you for visiting the Fitbit Community, @AmberCyr.

Thanks for the information provided and for trying to resolve the issue with your Fitbit Versa 2 before contacting us.

Like you mentioned, the dominant wrist setting decreases the sensitivity of step counting and should reduce any over counting of steps when your body is not moving.

Whether your Fitbit Versa 2 was placed on a surface near an electrical appliance issuing vibrations, your watch might have recorded them as steps. I would recommend putting your Fitbit device on a different place at night to see if the issue gets resolved.

If necessary, you can negate the extra data by following the instructions in this article in the menu "How do I delete steps and floors in the Fitbit app?".

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Hello,

I looked at that article.

Under “How do I delete steps and floors in the Fitbit app?” Is “You can’t delete steps and floors; instead, log a non-step-based activity such as driving to override the steps or floors:”

That is a bandaid solution, if it’s a help article FAQ, it’s clearly a known problem. Should be an actual option to delete them. My Fitbit was not near anything electrical as suggested. The steps were added when my Fitbit alarm went off. That shouldn’t be enough to add steps.

Thanks for your response, @AmberCyr.

If your steps are negated by following the instructions mentioned above, you will no longer see them in your Fitbit account and your calories burned for that day won't be affected for the extra steps either. Whether you want to make a request to have an option to delete them, you are welcome to visit the Feature Suggestions board which is constantly monitored by our engineering team for future implementations.

If your Versa 2 continues to track steps while not in use, the best way to get help for this problem is to chat with us online or give us a call. Please click here to get connected.

See you around.

Like the bunch of other that have over the years? Clearly Fitbit doesn’t care to add a simple option like delete. I’ll be looking into another tracker than Fitbit. After years of having a Fitbit, it’s disappointing.
