Two Versa's, different results

My wife and I both have new Versa's and walk together. I understand that our steps will be different but pace and mileage are also different by allot. My pace this morning was around 20 minute miles and hers was around 16 minute miles. My mileage was also less. I believe hers is closer to being correct than mine.

Thoughts?

Hello @IM45US may I ask if you have both accurately setup your stride settings?

We did the height and non dominate arm. I figured that would only affect steps. Wouldn't distance and pace be more GPS issues?

Steps are counted by the tracker.. Gender, age, height, etc is used to help Fitbit guess at what the users stride may be. However their guess is based on the average person and at he's their are not many users that fit the description of average. It is still best to manually calculate the stride. As for distance.. This can be measured by GPS or steps and stride, pace is a function of time for a set distance.

Currently Fitbit States that while in running mode the users run stride is automatically calculated. This would only be possible while using GPS to measure distance.

As for walk and hikes, Fitbit makes no such claim for auto stride setting, making us believe GPS is not used for distance.

I also have taken two identical walks and have altered the distance recorded by changing my stride setting.
