I just bought my new Fitbit Versa 2 days ago.
Ive has a Fitbit before but I’ve never had this problem before.
When i put it on for the very first time yesterday it said I had burned 934 calories. I just figure maybe that it had to get out of the factory setting or something? So I decided to wait till tomorrow. Then today I put it on and it said I had already burned 1226 calories?? I haven’t worn it at all today, let alone burn that many calories by sleeping. When I do a workout and start a workout timer on it, it tracks it correctly and at a sensible rate (I.e. 250 Cal after 1 hour workout). But I obviously can’t have a workout going for the entire day to track it correctly. So I don’t know what to do anymore. Please help

Yes, @JuicyBalooshi is right. The calories you see on your Fitbit are your BMR calories (calories in rest). Fitbit distributes them proportionally, so for example if your BMR is 1500 kcal per 24 hours, then after 8 hours Fitbit will show 500 kcal burn even if you did not move at all. The total calories burned are actually your BMR calories plus your active calories. Please take a look at this help article.

Hi, try restarting your Versa and seeif that solves your calorie problem. Sometimes you have to restart more than once. Might be just a hickup of the watch.

You burn calories constantly! When you wake up you will have calories burnt already because it takes energy for your body to function! So it is actually probably correct.

I didn’t have the watch on. I charge it at night so it was nowhere near me. Let alone that it guess I may or may not have burned 1400 calories??

I didn’t even have the Fitbit on. I charge it at night so it was nowhere near me. Let alone if it just guess that I may or may not have burned 1400 calories in my 6 hours of sleep? It’s still messed up

@HannahGinn Did it register any active minutes or steps during that time?

If it is accounting for basic metabolic calorie use all it needs to know is that you didn't die.

@HannahGinn What time did you take your Versa off the charger and what's your BMR ? You can calculate it online using your profile data. Only this way we can compare what's versa showing and what it should show after X number of hours in the charger. Also, you may want to double check the data you input into your Fitbit profile (height, weight, sex, age etc).
